YouTube Tuesdays
And now, welcome to a little segment of our program that I like to call YouTube Tuesday, where in I try to remember to write a blog entry every Tuesday which features some of my favorite Tubers from this now hugely popular video sharing website (
).
Note: some of the videos I link to below are not exactly “work safe”, in that they feature strong language, gratuitous violence, and Vegemite.
For those of you who may need a gentle introduction to what YouTube is all about, I can think of no one more suitable to the task than this Australian gentleman who channel goes by the name of Hughsnews (
):
OK, so “gentle introduction” was a bit of a stretch, but Hugh, his lovely yet long suffering girlfriend Mel (whom he has not proposed marriage to, seemingly because he is too in love with himself), and their completely insane friend Ash, are perfect examples of everything that is wrong with Australia.
No, no, just kidding.
They are perfect examples of everything that is right with YouTube. This, my friends, is real Reality TV.
For the lowdown on everything that is actually wrong with Australia, Ben “boh3m3” (
) is the guy in the know, (although it later turned out to be a ploy to obtain an Aussie girlfriend, Caitlin “TheHill88” [
], pretty clever, huh?) Actually, Boh3m3’s The Australians are Fooling Us All! was apparently one of the catalysts in a phenomenon which now goes by the grandiose name “The Vegemite Wars“, along with the false rumors that the U.S. had planned to ban Vegemite. Hugh made a contribution to that, as did Caitlin with her own vid.
Which reminds me, yesterday was Caitlin’s one year anniversary on YouTube, and oddly enough, this is how she chose to commemorate it:
Another contributor to the Vegemite saga is my personal favorite YouTube star, a lovely young Asian-Australian woman who will probably be the focus of my next installment of YouTube Tuesday, Natalie the “CommunityChannel” (
), (she’s a happy little Vegemite):
So that about wraps it up for this week’s YouTube Tuesday. Special thanks to Viper007Bond for his wonderful WordPress plugin Viper’s Video Quicktags which made inserting YouTube video into this blog much less painful than it might have been.
Stay tuned for my next blog entry: Totally Naked Thursdays! Er, no, just a joke.
Cheers.
